Whose Crazy Idea Is This Anyway??

That would be mine. My name is Rachel Shubin and I run The Fainting Couch, the Gymboree News & Gossip Column, and Hidden Auction. Here’s a little bit about me:

  • Age: 32
  • Marital Status: Married to Handsome Hubby since March 1996
  • Kids: You have to ask? We have almost six. At the time of this writing (October 2007), they are ages 9, 7, 5, 3, and nineteen months. Number six is due at the end of March 2008.
  • Employment: You’re looking at it (well this, the other two sites, my hubby’s sites that I help with, my Dad’s two sites that I do the marketing for, and other miscellaneous web stuff that people keep hiring me to do)
  • Hobbies: I have five kids and three businesses! What makes you think I have time for hobbies? Okay okay, in my copious spare time I like to read, shop, and watch movies. Happy now?
  • Location: We live in West Linn, Oregon which is a suburb of Portland. It’s lovely in the summer but rains for nine months in a row the rest of the year. Very grey.
  • Other boring tidbids: I’m a shrimp (5′2″ almost) and come from a family of scientists (dad, brother) and linguists (mom), which means I’ve seen a massive amount of dreadful sci-fi in between a few good ones and way too many Journey through Europe TV shows.

The Fainting Couch began as a spin-off from Gymboree News & Gossip. I had been putting site write-ups in there forever; but since I also added more and more sections to the newsletter, it was getting rather long. So I decided to just spin this off into its own newsletter, which would free up space in GNGC while also being something fun and helpful and all that. Dual purpose!
